How daylight saving affects conversions
Most of Canada moves clocks forward one hour on the second Sunday in March and back on the first Sunday in November. Saskatchewan and parts of BC, Quebec and Nunavut don’t. Europe changes on the last Sundays of March and October, and India doesn’t change at all — so the Toronto–India gap is 10½ hours in winter but 9½ hours in summer.
This converter uses your browser’s built-in time zone database (the same IANA database used by phones and operating systems), so these rules are applied for the date you choose.

Frequently asked questions
What is the time difference between Toronto and India?
India is 10 hours 30 minutes ahead of Toronto in winter (EST) and 9 hours 30 minutes ahead in summer (EDT).
Is EST the same as ET?
Not quite. EST is Eastern Standard Time (UTC−5), used in winter. In summer the Eastern zone uses EDT (UTC−4). “ET” covers both, and that’s what this converter follows.
Does Saskatchewan change its clocks?
Most of Saskatchewan stays on Central Standard Time all year, so it matches Alberta in summer and Manitoba in winter.
What’s the difference between GMT and UTC?
For everyday use they’re the same time. UTC is the precise scientific standard; the UK uses GMT in winter and BST (UTC+1) in summer.
